This bar tape was dyed by me (Saeed) in our London studio. This one is dyed with natural indigo, and you’re getting 2.5m of it officially, but there should be a little more than that (I measured 3m undyed and it’ll have shrunk a bit depending on the dye. It’ll also have got thicker). It’s 19mm wide.

I don’t write descriptions much anymore because they can get unnecessarily detailed, but I made these from scratch and put them on the site, so you’ll have to deal with it this time.

I dyed these up for myself because I feel the touchpoints of anything are really important, and all the bar tape I was coming across was chemically dyed or used animal products (like shellac). These aren’t inherently bad things, but I love natural dyes and thought it would be nice to have some natural alternatives.

Both indigo and fermented persimmon aren’t technically dyes, they’re coatings. Natural indigo is wonderful for clothing and things like this because it’s naturally antibacterial, antifungal and, most importantly, gets more beautiful over time.

Will it rub off on your fingers like new jeans? Yes, at first. If you don’t like that, give the tape a soak or a wash before use. You’ll take it down a couple of shades.

I’m sure you have your own clever way of mounting this, but I use a little double-sided tape.

I haven’t charged for my time or a lot of the things that should probably be included in this, so you benefit from me undervaluing that.
