Hand Embroidered

Hand embroidery is one of our all time favourite design details because it's always beautiful and interesting at every skill level. In fact, we are more interested and inspired by found vintage featuring naive first-go embroidery, over pin-perfect work that looks like it's made by a state-of-the-art machine.

It's a really important craft to us because it gives us so much. It gives us the chance to make one-off interesting and unique things and it also creates a lot of opportunity for people looking for employment to pick up a needle and join the team. The Story mfg. embroidery crew started as a team of 1 (Katy) and at last count was around 33.
